Can you remember the excitement of new school supplies or the smell of a fresh box of crayons?
With your help, we can supply over 3,200 at-risk children in southern Palm Beach County with a full backpack so they can arrive at school with confidence and the tools needed to succeed. Please send your donation or call to participate in another way:
¨Hold a supply drive at your business, church, service organization, or neighborhood, collect new backpacks, school supplies, or healthy school snacks.
¨Volunteer to help at the event on Friday, August 9 and/or Saturday, August 10.
¨Fundraise in your office with the Back to School Bash or Spirit of Giving as the designated charity.
¨Donate in-kind items for the event: event tent, water, ice, healthy snacks, printing, tables, T-shirts etc.
According to the National Retail Federation, last year the average family needed to spend over $600 to prepare a single child for school. As you can imagine, it is difficult for a low-income family to provide their children with the tools they need to learn. While the first days of school may be months away, the Spirit of Giving Network and Community Back to School Bash are already hard at work gathering the necessary school supplies and services that enhance a child’s self-esteem and capacity to achieve.
Last year, the Community Back to School Bash supplied over 10,000 children across Palm Beach County with backpacks, grade-appropriate supplies, uniforms, shoes, haircuts, access to medical resources, vision tests and healthy snacks. The Back to School Bash partnership prevents the duplication of services among non-profit agencies, streamlines distribution and ensures equitable usage of community resources. Your donations go further to help more at-risk students in the Boca Raton and Delray Beach community.
This year’s Back to School Bash will be held on Saturday, August 10th. At the event, students will meet a volunteer personal shopper to assist them in selecting their own backpack and supplies. It’s a wonderful opportunity to help thousands of students begin the school year with confidence!
Thank you for your caring and support, and for giving every child the potential to reach educational success,
Karen Krumholtz, Executive Director
